Fine Fettle's Willimantic location, which opened in January 2023, exemplifies this: residents once traveled out of state for products before adult-use sales began. One of nine retailers approved for recreational cannabis at launch, Fine Fettle now adapts to prioritize medical needs alongside general sales.
Operational Shift Boosts Efficiency and Care
Benjamin Zachs, Fine Fettle's chief operating officer, described the conversion as a step toward accessible, compassionate care. All locations—including Bristol, Waterbury, West Hartford, Newington, Manchester, Old Saybrook, Norwalk, and Stamford—will offer remote and in-person consultations with licensed pharmacists. "This is about efficiency and equity," Zachs said. "Patients shouldn’t have to travel far for care or be stuck with limited options." He credited the legislature and Department of Consumer Protection for enabling the model, which strengthens the state's medical program without compromising quality.
